My name is Nino, although I’m formally identified as Antonino. I’m currently a Senior Applied Researcher at eBay, where I work in Search. My competence areas are more or less randomly distributed over Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Software Engineering, Big Data, Web Services, and Operational Excellence. I’ve been living good portions of my professional life in Italy, France, and then Germany, working first in academia (University of Siena and INRIA Lille) and then in industry (Amazon, Zalando, and now eBay). I think of work more in terms of doing than in terms of thinking, but I think that good work consists more in thinking than in doing. In my spare time, I like doing sport, planning my next road trip, and reading anything about petrol engines and car tuning.
